JointHealthTM Education - Psoriatic Arthritis
JointHealthTM Education - Psoriatic Arthritis
Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) is a type of inflammatory arthritis and a complex disease, which make the conversations challenging when you discuss it with your rheumatologist. This JointHealthTM Education Course focuses on a very specific moment in your journey with PsA – the time you spend in your rheumatologist’s office. This course is designed based on findings from a global study on the experiences of people living with PsA.
Although some people with PsA see a dermatologist to manage their disease, the global study found that 85% of patients with PsA primarily see a rheumatologist to manage it. For this reason, the JHEd – PsA Course focuses on receiving care from a rheumatologist, but much of the same information can be applied to conversations with your dermatologist or arthritis trained health care professional. A rheumatologist is generally considered the best health care provider to see to effectively manage PsA, as they are experts at diagnosing and treating all forms of arthritis, including PsA. It is recommended to see a dermatologist, as well as a rheumatologist, if skin symptoms are not under control.
Each Course Lesson is designed to give you the key facts or “speaking points” to cover during your appointments with your healthcare team and in your daily life with family, friends or co-workers. The Lesson Plan starts with information and tips on fine tuning your communication and listening skills and ends with information on how to manage your world with PsA in between your appointments.
The Lesson and Lesson Coaching Video will be available for your viewing at your own pace. The Lesson Coaching Video is available in English with French subtitles.
